The mention of bogs might conjure up an image of a dark, smelly, mucky swamp but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Bogs are bright open wetlands full of fascinating and colourful plants, most of which thrive in a garden. Bog gardens don’t need to be large installations near ponds or rivers. They can be created in containers to fit any landscape. Justin describes bog garden basics and the diversity of plants that can be grown.
This presentation outlines bog garden environment, construction in a container, and examples of different styles and sizes. Justin will describe a variety of bog plants, focusing on carnivorous plants and species that grow well with them. This is a great introduction to growing bog and carnivorous plants. (Thanks to Alpine Garden Club of BC for presentation description).
